Day 1: First Day
For easy acclimatisation we will spend our first day near your hotel, on the water’s edge where fantastic sea and island views will tempt you to get your pencils and watercolours out immediately. For the beginners in the group I will give an introduction into sketching, drawing and watercolour painting.
Day 2: Greek Island Day
We will take the ferry to the small historic Greek island of Meis or Kastellorizo. As the beautiful harbour village has only been restored in parts this is the most amazing and inspiring place to draw and paint the Venetian style buildings, the weathered doors, and the colourful fishing boats moored all along the main street.
Day 3: Kas Day
We will sketch ancient Lykien sarcophaguses and picturesque street scenes in the Old Town, traditional working boats in the harbour, the stalls of the colourful weekly market and then proceed to our base for the day at Kirsten’s café near the Amphitheatre where I will demonstrate more watercolour techniques.
Day 4: Xanthos Day
You will be picked up from your hotel by minibus and taken to the impressive Saklikent Gorge. We will have lunch by the river where you can feed and paint the ducks and the peacocks. We will then travel on to Xanthos, once the capital of Lykia, and now a World Cultural Heritage Site with monuments, ruins and mosaics up to 4000 years old. Last stop is Patara where the ruins of the ancient town are still buried under a 12km white sandy beach.
Day 5: Kekova Day
You will be taken on a minibus trip through the rural Lykien landscape and traditional farming villages, to Ucagiz harbour from where we will spend the day on a Gulet that will take us to the Sunken City of Kekova and to Simena Village and Castle. We will have lunch on the boat and plenty of swimming breaks.
