Painting Sessions
We will usually meet on a pre-arranged site at 10am. All Kas sites will be in easy walking distance to your hotel and have toilet facilities, somewhere to buy a drink and some shade.
I will be with you on site at all times to help you develop your ‘en plein air’ sketching and painting skills, whether you are a beginner or an experienced artist.
As all courses will be limited to 8 places, individual tuition and attention will be guaranteed.
I will stay on site until mid-afternoon. You stay and work as long as you like. We usually have lunch where we are when we get hungry. Whenever you feel like a swimming break you are welcome to have one as we are always close to the sea.
Non-painting partners are welcome to come along – bring a book!
In the afternoons you have time to follow your own pursuits: a long, leisurely lunch, a walk, a swim, a nap, some hard work on your tan, a spot of retail therapy, a pampering session at the Turkish Bath …..whatever you fancy – it is all there!
For those very rare rainy days our studio will be available.
At sun-down-time we will arrange for a regular meeting place so whoever wishes to do so can join the others for a drink and dinner.

Please bring your own brushes, watercolours and drawing materials if you have got any already. If not, all these materials can be provided for a small fee.
Please bring sunscreen, a sun hat, your sketchbook, and your camera (phone).
Course Fee
This will include all tuition, all trips, and lunches on Xanthos and Kekova day.
Course 1: Kas Week
Day 1: First Day
For easy acclimatisation we will spend our first day near your hotel, on the water’s edge where fantastic sea and island views will tempt you to get your pencils and watercolours out immediately. For the beginners in the group I will give an introduction into sketching and drawing.
Day 2: Kas Town Day
We will sketch ancient Lykien sarcophaguses and picturesque street scenes in the Old Town, traditional working boats in the harbour, and trees and flowers in the tea garden. An introduction into watercolour painting will be given here.
Day 3: Market Day
We will take a stroll along the stalls of the colourful weekly market to collect more interesting material, and then proceed to our base for the day at Kirsten’s café near the Amphitheatre where I will demonstrate more watercolour techniques.
Day 4: Laminagzi Day
We will meet in the harbour to cross the bay in a boat taxi and spend the day painting on a lovely pebble beach that cannot be reached by road.
Day 5: Aqua Princess Day
Our final day we will spend at the beach café of the Aqua Princess Hotel where the staff is most welcoming and sometimes joins in with a watercolour sketch or two. Here we finish all our work and celebrate all we have achieved through the week with a drink.
Course 2: Turquoise Coast Week
Day 1: First Day
For easy acclimatisation we will spend our first day near your hotel, on the water’s edge where fantastic sea and island views will tempt you to get your pencils and watercolours out immediately. For the beginners in the group I will give an introduction into sketching, drawing and watercolour painting.
Day 2: Greek Island Day
We will take the ferry to the small historic Greek island of Meis or Kastellorizo. As the beautiful harbour village has only been restored in parts this is the most amazing and inspiring place to draw and paint the Venetian style buildings, the weathered doors, and the colourful fishing boats moored all along the main street.
Day 3: Kas Day
We will sketch ancient Lykien sarcophaguses and picturesque street scenes in the Old Town, traditional working boats in the harbour, the stalls of the colourful weekly market and then proceed to our base for the day at Kirsten’s café near the Amphitheatre where I will demonstrate more watercolour techniques.
Day 4: Xanthos Day
You will be picked up from your hotel by minibus and taken to the impressive Saklikent Gorge. We will have lunch by the river where you can feed and paint the ducks and the peacocks. We will then travel on to Xanthos, once the capital of Lykia, and now a World Cultural Heritage Site with monuments, ruins and mosaics up to 4000 years old. Last stop is Patara where the ruins of the ancient town are still buried under a 12km white sandy beach.
Day 5: Kekova Day
You will be taken on a minibus trip through the rural Lykien landscape and traditional farming villages, to Ucagiz harbour from where we will spend the day on a Gulet that will take us to the Sunken City of Kekova and to Simena Village and Castle. We will have lunch on the boat and plenty of swimming breaks.
“The quality of the light and the glorious colours of the ‘Turquoise Coast’,
combined with the challenge of finding marks
made by human hands thousands of years ago,
will make your painting holiday an experience you will never forget.”
